DIY Christmas Card Idea With A Non-Christmas Stamp

Have you thought about using your favorite everyday stamp set to create a holiday card? Talk about stretching your stamps!!!

Today Sandy Allnock is sharing a great idea for creating a Christmas card with a non-Christmas stamp! She’s also making an ink blended background and doing a little coloring with Copic markers!

Hello coloring friends! It’s Sandy Allnock, back with another coloring video here on the blog – I am still frantically working on Christmas cards, so I decided I’d turn a non-Christmas stamp set into a Christmas card anyway – who’s got time for general cards in November, right? Ha!

For this project I’ll be using the new Up in the Air stamp set, matching that up with Tis the Season for the sentiment, and going back in the archives a bit to pull out the Big City die – I cut it out and used it for a mask!

My card might be a little surprise to you – because I’m actually doing an inked background! Gah! I don’t recall when I’ve used this many inks on one card…
1. Lawn Fawn Jet Black – My go-to ink since it works with both Copics and Watercolor.
2. Versafine Onyx Black – I needed that for the city.
3. Versamark – Clear ink for Embossing a sentiment.
4. Distress Oxide Inks (Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot, Candied Apple) – for the background.
5. Trinity Blending Buddy – for the inked background
6. Copic markers – just for the dirigible!

The Copic coloring on this one was super simple….just a few colors for the dirigible:

And of course if it’s a winter card by me, it’s gotta have a lot of white pen snow all over it!

Note that there’s a little stamp for the ties – but if, like me, you forgot to stamp them, just draw them in with a pen to attach the sign to the dirigible!

Hope you enjoyed my little card – one more to add to the Christmas card stash! How are you coming on getting your cards finished this year??? Panicking like me? LOL!
Sandy

Love your card so much. I have to make many cards. I finished a set of cards for my mums friends who stays in Canada. I did some gift tags too to ease her burden a wee bit as she is old and going through a tough time.
I dont have many stamps and dies but love to extend my supplies and today morning i die cut the tags, word dies and the two Christmas decorations dies i have in different colored card stock. After all crafting is all about sharing kindness and happiness always. Blessings to you and your family

Absolutely love your Santa dirigible! I have spent the last few crafting times making Christmas tags but have to start on the Christmas cards soon. Sounds like you make a lot of Christmas cards!

Fabulous scene, always love watching your work appear from blank card, very relaxing for me, guess as you have so many to do a little less relaxing on your part x
