Merry Christmas, everyone! It’s Sandy Allnock with day four of the 12 Tags of Christmas series – and the song for today is “Deck the Halls!” I’m a super big fan of a tag series based on carols – my family collection of Bing Crosby records trained me well, and I know them all by heart!
I also love the series because I’ve had them playing at my house for months now! Yep. I’m one of those people. Partly because I need to get inspiration out for YOU in time to make things for Christmas. So at this point I’m about at the end of my holiday prep – and it’s time to chill out and enjoy the season! (Side benefit of getting it all done early!)
My tag is made with a non-Christmas set – it’s Conductor of Light, made into Christmas lights! You could easily adapt this with your mad skills in any medium – do the same as my airbrushing but in distress inking, colored pencils, or watercolors. You can even make the colors match the wrapping paper you choose this year!
I’ve always loved Deck the Halls, most especially after the movie The Christmas Story – one of the very best scenes is in the Chinese restaurant with the waiters singing “Farararara!” (Watch it HERE and have a good laugh!) I might have to make a tag with a jar in it – for the “Jarry” part! Maybe a bear for “Jingle bear” too! 🙂
I hope you find some time to relax, sing along with some carols, and spend FUN time (not panic time!) in your crafty space. Clear the decks and give yourself the gift of half an hour away from the hubbub and color something! Merry Christmas!

Very illuminating Sandy! Brilliant out of the box thinking on this creation. Thanks for sharing your talent!
Sandy is just such a talented artist. I am always inspired and impressed with her creations!
Super festive tag, Sandy! The Coptic airbrush overspray gives your bulbs a wonderful glow!
What a fun tag! I LOVE how you did the lights! They glow!
Beautiful card! I love the way the light look like they are on.
Oh, this is so fun, the Fa ra ra ra ra is hilarious!
Super clever take on Deck the Halls. Love the way you have made the bulbs glow.
Love your glowing lights, Sandy! And yes, Bing Crosby’s voice is absolutely swoon-inducing! One of the greats, for sure!

Love the idea of the light bulbs, very creative
I love the bright, festive look of this tag and how you used non-holiday stamps to create it!
I like how you used a non Christmas set for this tag.. fun and festive.
Love the colors!
Great way to maximize those stamp sets both the lights and the Dino set! Festive tag Sandy!
Again you take a non-Christmas stamp into a holiday piece – I love that! My fingers are itching to try this with Distress inks. I don’t have any light bulb stamps, but I’ll figure something out. Whee – off to get inky – thanks, Sandy for the inspiration – and Ellen for the fun challenge!
Sweet tag
Great colors on this pretty tag! And I’m excited to get the inspiration because I have this set! Awesome idea to use the lights for a Christmas tag!
Hmmm, I wonder if I need to ask Santa for a Copic airbrush now… Great tag, Sandy! I like how quickly this tag came together and how you can customize the colors. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love a card or tag with humor!
what fabulous coloring!
So creative for the tag. And thanks for the laugh from The Christmas Story! Fa Ra Ra!!
AWESOME tag, I think the spatters actually achieves the look of the colored light’s glow reaching out!!!
That was one of the funniest scenes in the whole movie. Fa ra ra ra ra. I like this theme.
Incredible colors, this is just terrific!
Love this! So happy.
This is so cute!!
One of our favourite movies as well! Beautiful colour on this tag
Wow, this tag is amazing!
Love the over spray on the tag to darken the green background to make the light bulbs “glow” more!
Love the look, and thank you for suggesting ink blending! I don’t have Copic markers, much less the airbrush system, so having a way to do it myself is always great. Thank you for sharing! 🙂 ~ Andrea
Awesome tag as always. So pretty.
Love the blending….
Awesome tag! Love your creativity…
Thanks for sharing.
I love the way you coloured the tag! I think I . need to invest in an airbrush:) Gorgeous bright tag!
Bing is the best… Love Christmas Story and that dinner at the Chinese restaurant, classic. Love your airbrushed background. Merry Christmas!
Love the Copic spray over the top of your bulbs!!
Interesting background for the lights. I like the colors.
What a cool look. It reminds me of the 1970s–sort of vintage/retro.
This tag is very cool. And of course you are sooo right about our eyes filling in the “glass” from the white you added in on the bulbs. If I used a sprayer it would all be a mess, so great job with that too.
Love the way the bulbs glow! Beautiful as usual and funny.
Very creative.
This is such a fun tag! The sentiment is a great nod to the scene in “A Christmas Story”! One of our family favorites to watch at the Christmas season! Love it!
Awesome! Love the nod to that great singing scene in “A Christmas Story”!
So cool! I’ve never seen Copic airbrushing! Gorgeous effect.
Wow, this looks beautiful! I love how you’ve blended the colors (like other commenters, I’ve never seen Copic airbrushing either!) behind the lights – such a cool technique!
Your work is always amazing and this tag is no exception. I watched your clip of the waiters singing and had a good chuckle. I have never seen the movie, but will have to look for it. The duck…OMG!!
Such a FUN Tag!! LOVE how you got your inspiration too!!
