How To Make A Light Up Card + Video

Are you looking for an extra special card idea? How about one that lights up?! We are thrilled to welcome our friend Caly Person back today to share her very first light up card with you!

Hello, Friends! This is Caly and I’m so excited to join Ellen Hutson for a fun collaboration with Lawn Fawn today using the S’more The Merrier set.  I’m making my first light up card and I’m so excited to share it with you!

If you’ve never made a light up card before and were intimidated like I was before making this card, I’m here to tell you that it’s not as hard as it looks and that YOU CAN DO IT!  Check out my video to see the full process for how I created my card today.

I started by stamping and coloring all of my images using Copic markers.

Copic colors used:

  • Grays:  C0, C1, C3, C5
  • Blues:  B32, B37, B39
  • Pinks/Reds:  R20, R22, R27
  • Pinks/Reds:  R20, R22, R27
  • Yellows:  Y00, Y11, Y15, Y38
  • Browns:  W0, E13, E15, E18, E23, E25, E30, E31, E39, E41, E42, E43, E44, E53, E55, E57

After ink-blending my background using Distress Oxide Inks, I embossed a few stars and splattered it with paint and more ink to give it additional texture and interest.

Distress Oxide Ink colors used:

  • Wilted Violet
  • Blueprint Sketch
  • Salty Ocean
  • Scattered Straw
  • Gathered Twigs
  • Tea Dye

I love that this card lights up and adds such a fun feature for a bonfire scene!  I really hope you enjoyed this card and appreciate you joining me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!
