Hello there—it’s Julie!  I love pretty tags at gift-giving time, but when I need to make a lot, I’ve become very resourceful at speeding up the process. By the way, did you know the 12 Days of Christmas actually begin on December 25th, leading up to Epiphany (January 6th)? Yup! So you have plenty of time to surprise your loved ones with this sweet tradition!

TIPS:

  • Align all your dies to half sheets of card stock and anchor them in place with Press N Seal; trim off excess Press N Seal. (Press N Seal is readily available at most US grocery stores)
  • After ejecting all the die cut shapes from the first run, pounce the negative areas/shapes (where the Press N Seal is exposed) with anti-static powder; this will become your “template”. The anti-static powder reduces the “tack” of the Press N Seal so you can pop shapes out more easily AND avoid transfer of foil later on to unwanted areas.
  • Place template(s) onto another half sheet of card stock and run through die cutting machine as many times as you need.
  • After applying glue (the types specified in the supply list), allow to dry undisturbed until they are tacky to the touch.
  • Apply transfer foils by placing “pretty” side up and matte silver side to glue details; press firmly with pads of fingers to transfer.  Peel away foil sheet.  This method is often referred to as “spot foiling” and is a great way to use up foil scraps!

So much good info here, Julie! I love this technique (because I will not own another crafting appliance like a foiling accessory) but I do struggle with the glue pen (not quite as much as with the dang white gel ones, but……), so your patient demo on using one is just what I needed. Besides, of course, hearing that JE giggle one more time this year…….These are so elegant and lovely and your tips are so spot-on. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

Love the tags and the video was full of some awesome tips. I love the look of foil but don’t have a foiling machine, so it’s great to know I can use glue. I, too, love these little glue pens…they are such a good value.
