We’re giving away the Bear Cozy Kit to TWO lucky people that leave a comment on this post by Tuesday, October 5th at 11:59 pm pacific. You’re going to LOVE what Design Ambassador Emily Leiphart is sharing today!
Are you obsessed with coffee? Does caffeine run through your veins? Then today is your day to celebrate! Tell me, how do you take your coffee? Do you drink it black? With lots of sugar, milk or cream? I’ve been obsessed with flavoured coffee lately and my favourite is Pecan Sticky Bun. When I brew a pot, the house smells so good!
Let’s get to today’s project celebrating National Coffee Day! I used the adorable Bear Cozy Kit to make my coffee cup cozies. Bears? Check. Pandas? Check. Felt? Check. This kit is so much fun and easy to use. If you’ve never used an Essentials by Ellen Kit, you’re in for a treat. Right now, you can get this kit at 50% off!
The Bear Cozy Kit comes with six colours of felt. The first thing I did was use the main die to cut four base wraps in cream, brown, grey and charcoal. When they were all laid out, I decided on my two favourites which were the cream and charcoal. I wanted to make reverse pandas so they would complement each other nicely.
I cut the inside of the little ears in the opposite colours, and cut the snouts to match. Then I cut the eyes in brown, attaching googly eyes to them. I wanted them to have pink noses because that’s the ultimate in cute. For the bow ties, I chose colours that would stand out the most so I die cut a pink one for the charcoal bear and tan for the cream bear.
Before adhering all the pieces together, I used the stitching die to pierce holes along one edge of the wrap. Then I used the coordinating embroidery floss and an embroidery needle to create ruching and details on the bow ties. I used grey thread on the tan bow tie and cream thread on the pink bow tie.
I used liquid glue to attach all of the pieces to the base wrap and while I was doing this, I decided to cut an extra snout for both bears so the faces would have more dimension. I glued the two layers together before attaching the snouts to the cozies.
After the glue had dried a little bit, I used a simple running stitch to close the cozies at the back. I stitched down and then back up to fill in the empty sections so it looks nice and neat. I used cream thread on the charcoal cozy and grey thread on the cream cozy.
Aren’t these bears the cutest? You can get pretty creative with the dies included in this set, or even use dies you have in your own crafty stash to stretch your creativity!
My son loves getting decaf lattes as a treat after school and I know that having one of these cozies would make it even more fun! These would be a fun project to do with the kids, especially as an indoor activity when the weather starts to turn chilly.
These would make great holiday gifts, too! It’s definitely time to start thinking about autumn and winter birthdays, as well as teacher gifts at Christmastime. There’s no better time to grab this fabulous kit!
I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration with the Bear Cozy Kit! Thanks so much for stopping by!
