How To Make A Rainbow Cupcake Card with Essentials by Ellen Cake

Having extra handmade birthday cards on hand is definitely a good idea and Carly is here today to share a cheerful rainbow cupcake card that you will want to add to your stash!

I needed three birthday cards in a hurry the other day and would you believe I had a big ol’ zero in my stash? So as soon as I had a little crafty time, I decided to make a few.

The Essentials by Ellen Cake set is one of my favorites because I LOVE the versatility of Julie’s sets that include the outline & solid images (and I love sweets)…

I love that you can stamp the outline and color OR you can stamp the outline and then use the coordinating solid stamp to add color.

For this card I decide to add color with Copic markers but very simply, no blending required.

I used five colors to make a rainbow cupcake wrapper and one for the cake. I kept the frosting white but added a little Glossy Accents and glitter. By the way, one of my favorite crafty hacks when applying Glossy Accents is to put a loop of low tack tape on an acrylic block to hold my die cut and then apply Glossy Accents. Then I can set the block far away from my workspace while it dries to keep it safe from me. LOL!

To add another little rainbow element, I die cut five more cupcakes and colored the edges.

I stacked & adhered the die cuts in rainbow order, placing the glossy & glittery cupcake on top.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

P.S. Love this stamp set as much as I do? Check out some of Julie’s other sets that have outlines & solids…
