This technique can be done with dye or pigment inks, but I’m using Avery Elle’s pigment inks because I love the textured stippling and shading that can be achieved so easily.
TIPS:
- Always start with lightest colors first, then add darker colors for shading and depth
- Use Sponge Daubers to apply color where desired on stamp; this will help avoid cross-contamination of ink pads
- Load Sponge Daubers with color from the corner of the ink pad. This way, if you do happen to cross contaminate, it’s much easier to “clean up the ink pad”. To do this, just blot clean paper towel against the contaminated areas on the ink pad to lift the color out; reink the pad. The ink pad may become stained, depending on the severity of contrasting ink color, but should perform normally if properly cleaned up.
