Hi everyone, it’s Ardyth and I’m excited to be exploring my new Gemini Foil Press with a Two-Minute-Tip for you today! It’s still pretty new to me and I’ve been successful using plain cardstock, so I decided to try something new – foiling on a piece of watercolored cardstock.
- I started by creating a blended rainbow background, using Altenew Watercolours and Ranger watercolour cardstock.
- Then I used the Blooming Tree foiling stamp die on it – and it failed miserably! Since I had done a successful “dry” run earlier, I figured that it was because my panel wasn’t completely dry, so I painted another one, and let it sit overnight to be really sure!
- I turned on the Foil Press to pre-heat it and looked up the appropriate time in the instruction booklet. Once it was pre-heated, I placed the foiling plates on to the surface, and then put the foil over top, face down. I then put my rainbow panel (also face down) over that, and put the plastic top plate on before running the whole thing through my Gemini Junior.
- This time it worked beautifully! The foil stuck and was pressed into the cardstock, with a debossed, letterpress effect.
- I trimmed the panel with a pierced rectangle die and added some Sparkling Clear Confetti from Pretty Pink Posh for sparkle.
