Black and white is always in style, and the ever-versatile Modern Graphics Paper Pack is one of my crafty “go-tos.” Patterned paper is the star of these bags, so keep it simple and add a bold “statement” tag and little else.

TIP: You don’t always need ribbon or twine; sometimes it detracts more than it adds. When you’re not feelin’ bows, reach for a mini stapler.

See-through elements never fail to get a smile, and design options are almost endless with all the dies we have to choose from these days. I’ve used a basic circle, along with the Essentials by Ellen Spiderwebs Die Set, to create mine. Once you’ve cut the windows – and before you tape the bag together – add a piece of acetate behind the openings so nothin’ falls out.

TIP: Create even more depth by adding decorations both behind, and in front of, the acetate. (Use a strong adhesive – like Be Creative Tape – so everything holds tight.)

The approach to this design is the opposite from the first: using a simple paper – vellum here – means you have more room to play with layers and embellishments without things getting too busy.

TIP: For subtle texture, try tone-on-tone embossing. Clear embossing powder is my go-to for this technique.
