Today Sandy Allnock is sharing a great idea for creating a Christmas card with a non-Christmas stamp! She’s also making an ink blended background and doing a little coloring with Copic markers!
Hello coloring friends! It’s Sandy Allnock, back with another coloring video here on the blog – I am still frantically working on Christmas cards, so I decided I’d turn a non-Christmas stamp set into a Christmas card anyway – who’s got time for general cards in November, right? Ha!
For this project I’ll be using the new Up in the Air stamp set, matching that up with Tis the Season for the sentiment, and going back in the archives a bit to pull out the Big City die – I cut it out and used it for a mask!
My card might be a little surprise to you – because I’m actually doing an inked background! Gah! I don’t recall when I’ve used this many inks on one card…
1. Lawn Fawn Jet Black – My go-to ink since it works with both Copics and Watercolor.
2. Versafine Onyx Black – I needed that for the city.
3. Versamark – Clear ink for Embossing a sentiment.
4. Distress Oxide Inks (Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot, Candied Apple) – for the background.
5. Trinity Blending Buddy – for the inked background
6. Copic markers – just for the dirigible!
The Copic coloring on this one was super simple….just a few colors for the dirigible:
And of course if it’s a winter card by me, it’s gotta have a lot of white pen snow all over it!
Note that there’s a little stamp for the ties – but if, like me, you forgot to stamp them, just draw them in with a pen to attach the sign to the dirigible!
