Do you love easy stamping techniques? How about one that gives you dreamy watercolor results with no paint brush required?
EH Design Ambassador Carly Tee Minner is here to share one of her favorite easy stamping techniques…faux watercolor!
To get started, gather your supplies…
- a beautiful outline stamp like the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Pansy
- an acrylic block or stamping tool like the MISTI
- water-reactive inks like Distress Oxides
- black ink
- watercolor cardstock
- spray bottle with clean water
Ink stamp with water-reactive ink and then mist generously with water before stamping onto watercolor cardstock.
The desired result is a little “puddly” so don’t be afraid to add more ink, more water and stamp again.
If using multiple colors, I recommend starting with the lightest color first and choosing colors that will mix nicely and not make a muddy brown. You can heat set between watercolor layers but I find adding wet to wet helps the layers blend.
You could stop here and finish with a sentiment BUT if you want to add the detail layer in black ink, let dry completely (or heat set) and then stamp the flower again in black,
The result is pretty pools of watercolor peeking out from under the image.
