As I mentioned, I’ll be going in to more detail about the tips in today’s video tutorial, but here’s a quick run-down.

5 Tips For Creating A Handmade Sympathy Card.

  1. Make ahead and stash it.
  2. Use natural elements.
  3. Skip the sparkle.
  4. Keep it simple.
  5. It’s what’s on the inside that counts.

I chose a color palette that is perfect for fall, and maybe even a little unexpected. There are a lot of soft and earthy tones and a little punch of magenta to make it interesting.

I couldn’t agree with you more Clarissa! Sympathy cards should be dignified and respectful, without being gushingly Morbid. Gentle colours and tranquil. Your card is spot on beautiful and I’d like it for any occasion to be honest.

I agree, too, that simple and low key is best for sympathy cards. It’s the message that’s most important.

Great video Carissa! And wonderful card. I tend to keep a few sympathy cards on hand because you just never know when you might need one. I usually make some that are a little more on the feminine or masculine side as well. Thanks for sharing this.
