Halloween is just around the corner and we’re going to get you in the Halloween spirit! Do you have the Dinomite Halloween stamp set by Brandi Kincaid? Brand Ambassador Adelina (a_starace on Instagram) is joining us today to share three fun cards using Brandi’s designs.
Hello everyone, Adelina here with three cards using one of my favorite Halloween stamp sets! I paired this first card with the Mama Elephant Gatefold Fence and the My Favorite Things Creepy Confections 6×6 paper pad. I used the patterned paper as the background for my card and the gatefold fence to create some contrast. I like to look for black & white patterned paper as a neutral background when I’m creating my Halloween cards.
I stamped the Dinomite Halloween stamp images using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copic markers. I finished off the card by die cutting the “boo” sentiment from the Boo & Treat word dies four times in 100lb black cardstock, adhering them together and embossing the top layer with clear embossing powder. (fair warning: embossing a die cut word requires a great deal of patience! *laugh*)
I pulled out my favorite background die for my next card, Constellation background. This background die works great for Halloween cards, camping themed cards or space themed cards. I really like the way it looks die cut in a dark colored cardstock.
If you’re looking to do some quick and easy Halloween cards, keep your card “recipe” easy: background die + patterned paper + sentiment.
I embossed the pumpkin from the Dinomite Halloween stamp set on some of the patterned paper and die cut them. Stamped the Halloween themed sentiments from the Tis the Season stamp set with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne. Finished it off with the Snowball Droplets by EBE.
This last card uses a technique that I think is really fun … I don’t know if it’s so much a “technique” as it is as a shortcut of sorts. There was a light gray grid patterned paper in the MFT Creepy Confections 6×6 paper pad and I stamped the Dino onto it with Memento ink.
This was a bit of an experiment because I knew I wanted the pattern as the background on the image and I wanted to use warm gray Copic markers to add some shading. I wasn’t sure how the alcohol markers would blend on the patterned paper. I was pleasantly surprised to find they worked great! I’m so happy with how this turned out and I’ll definitely be trying this again. I liked how the grid pattern tied into the orange grid patterned background paper.
The pumpkins were die cut from some 110lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. I like to use a heavier cardstock for popping up the smaller images so they don’t get bent in the mail. It probably still gets bent, but it makes me feel better. *laugh*
To create the background I cut some 100 lb Essentials by Ellen black cardstock and some of the patterned paper using the Mama Elephant Quick Stripes die.
I finished off the card using my White Glaze pen and some HAI Supply black star sequins … an absolute MUST for Halloween cards. I hope this post inspires you to pull out your patterned papers + favorite Essentials by Ellen Halloween stamp sets!
Thanks for stopping by today and have a very Happy Halloween! (too soon? nah! *laugh*)
