How I Made My First Slimline Card

Have you made a slimline card yet? EH Design Ambassador Carly Minner just made her first one and is sharing it today!

I finally made a slimline card! What can I say, I’m a little slow with cardmaking trends, LOL!

I actually didn’t plan to make a slimline card, I started out creating a standard A2 card with my favorite, go-to card design…basically a colored circle serving as the background for my stamped images.

Here’s how my first card turned out…

I was really happy with the card but I could only fit a few of the stamped images inside the circle. And I had stamped & die cut A BUNCH because the Essentials by Ellen Merry Little Christmas and Over The River sets are so cute (and easy to color)!

So I decided a slimline card might be a fab way to use more of the stamped images! I kept the same basic design, but just increased the number of circle windows. I like to die cut a card panel to create windows and foam mount it to the card front to add extra dimension. I also often add acetate to create shakers.

To create the glittery blue backgrounds, I ink blended on the card front with Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass.

Then I added a little Nuvo Glitter Drops, spread it into a thin layer with a squeegee and sprinkled on a little chunky glitter for fun 😉

I love how it turned out! The blue background is very sparkly in real life and makes the perfect background for the sweet little holiday images.
