Anyone feeling like they could use some extra warm fuzzies? Or maybe you know someone who needs a little extra love & happiness now that the holidays are over? That sounds like a good reason to make & send a card! Carly Tee Minner is here today with some warm & fuzzy card ideas using felt.
I love using felt on cards because it adds fun texture but is nice & flat for easy mailing! Wool felt is also easy to die cut and just darn cute!
Tips for using felt:
- choose the right felt – wool felt die cuts beautifully but acrylic felt can be hard to get a clean cut.
- choose the right adhesive – I like using “dry adhesives” like double-sided tape to make felt “stickers”. Stick It is my favorite for this.
- to use Stick It, just cut felt and Stick It to approximately the same size. Remove one side of liner paper from the Stick It and place adhesive side down onto felt. Burnish with a bone folder or run through your die cut machine (with no dies) to use the pressure to make sure the adhesive is good & stuck to the felt.
- then the felt is ready to die cut but be careful when using low-tack tape to hold down dies while running through die cutting machine. Try to place tape on the edge of dies because removing the tape after die cutting can pull/snag felt and you don’t want that on the shape you are going to use.
- the Stick It & felt combo will stick perfectly to cardstock but to get a really good bond adhering felt to felt, I like to run it through my die cut machine again (with no dies).
For this card, I cover the whole card front in white felt. Then I added the rays of the rainbow from the Essentials by Ellen Rainbow Plushie Felt die.
I haven’t decided what kind of card this will be but when I do, I will stamp my sentiment inside.
