VIDEO: Card Weaving with the Essential Stitching Rectangles

Have you ever tried weaving on your cards? Today EH Ambassador, Jessica Frost-Ballas, is going to show you how to use the new Essentials Stitching Rectangles – coming this Friday at 9AM PST – to create a woven rainbow!

Good morning! Jess here with a fun way to use your dies in a new way! I’m using the Essentials Stitching Rectangles to create a tapestry loom of sorts for weaving! I’ve used them in conjunction with the Essentials Rectangles to create cardstock frames.

I warped my “loom” with cotton thread and then used a combination of wool roving and chunky cotton yarn to weave a rainbow panel. I used a simple tabby weave (under and over) for this beginning tutorial but will share more weaving patterns soon! You can use a variety of materials: yarn, embroidery thread, fabric scraps, ribbons, or even paper to create similar effects!

Finally I finished the card with another cardstock frame and a simple sentiment die-cut from the Big Scripty Hello! I have a video with a closer look at the “loom” creation and weaving process that you can watch below or over on the Ellen Hutson YouTube channel.

If you’re having trouble viewing the video please click here!

I hope this gives you some new ideas for your stitching and shapes dies and I can’t wait to see what you’ll do with these new dies!

Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!

-Jess
