Have you ever tried ‘Double Die-Cutting’? This is a great way to get more from your dies and today Therese has a fun example or two for you!
Hi it’s Therese and I’ve been playing with the wonderful new Never Ending Fringe Die Set…. but I wanted to create ‘wavy’ waves. So what better way to achieve this than by using the Waves Dies as well. So it was time to Double Die-Cut!
Step 1 – I started by creating my own coloured cardstock using some Catherine Pooler Inks and the Altenew Ink Blending Tool.
Step 2 – Add texture by splattering clean water droplets onto the coloured panels and dabbing these with paper towel.
Step 3 – Die cut each section with the Waves Die.
Step 4 – Next, die cut each panel with Never Ending Fringe Die (I used the middle sized fringe).
PRO TIP – When you are choosing dies to Double Die-Cut choose which die cut will work better to cut first. For example today it was best to create the ‘wave’ look before cutting the fringe. You could also do a practice run on some scrap cardstock to ensure that it will work as you planned.
Step 5 – Stamp and color the squid from Just Squidding and die cut with the co-ordinating Just Squidding Dies.
Step 6 – Prepare the sentiments. White heat emboss the sentiment from Just Squidding on some black cardstock. Next create some ombre cardstock with Copics and die cut the word HUG with the Tall N Skinny Alpha Die Set.
Step 7 – Assemble the card and add a border frame created by using the Essential Rectangles Die Set.
And what to do with the ‘left over’ fringe waves??? Why, create a second card of course….
This time I added a Porthole to frame my scene.
