Did you know that shaped card dies can be made into MORE than cards? Today Julie is sharing how to take one of her favorite card shape dies, the Essentials by Ellen Rainbow Card, and turn it into a mini piñata!
Hello, hello! It’s Julie here on the blog today with a fun way to transform the Rainbow Card die into this darling mini piñata! I can’t think of a more fun way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than with a “pot o’ gold” tucked inside such a crazy cute party favor!
TIPS:
- If you’re going to make a a mini piñata, you might as well prepare enough supplies and materials to make several—these are as fun to make as they are to receive! Just sayin’…
- You don’t need fancy tape to assemble the piñata parts; ordinary household masking tape should work great! Just avoid colorful tapes tapes so the base remains neutral.
- You can use either crepe paper or tissue paper to make the fringe.
- Die cut multiple layers of tissue/crepe paper to save time.
- Pleat/fold the fringe when gluing to follow curved surfaces.
- For best results, layer each row of fringe twice and start at the bottom of your project, overlapping each row as you work your way up.
- Avoid “fluffing” fringe until all your layers of fringe have been applied, otherwise they tend to get in the way.
- Make sure to leave a trap door to fill with goodies.
