Hey, hello, hi! Julie here today on the blog. Creating drop shadows and faux dimension are easy because they require one simple supply to accomplish the effect: INK! I’m sharing 4 different methods—I prefer working with solid/bolder images because I think that’s where the technique really shines, but it can also be accomplished with simple outline mages that don’t have a lot of detail.
TIPS:
- Using a MISTI can help with positioning or if free-handing, the cushioned platform helps you achieve smoother/more even impressions.
- Having TWO cleaning cloths available is handy when switching ink colors—one for cleaning and the other for quickly drying. I prefer using Stamp Shammies because (out of all the numerous things I’ve tried) they don’t leave any lint or fuzzy fibers. I go into more specifics in the video.
- If you plan to heat emboss over an inked surface, prep the surface well making sure it is thoroughly dry and applying anti-static powder over the top to eliminate any possible moisture and/or static cling.
