This card couldn’t have been easier! I used the Essentials by Ellen Hot Foil Stamp Hello with the Essentials by Ellen Mod Floral die and I love the combo! The Hello Hot Foil Stamp is just gorgeous and the Mod Floral die give such a delicate result!
It’s also fun to mix foil with other mediums like a Copic colored die cut like this…
For this card I started with a similar foiled design. I used the Gemini Foil Press to foil the Mod Floral across the top with the Hello towards the bottom and then added more floral across the bottom.
Then I die cut the Mod Floral from white cardstock and used Copic markers to color it.
I started by adhering the Mod Floral in the top corner, using scissors to trim off the overhang. Then I used the parts I cut off to place in other areas.
If you are new to using foil and hot foil stamps, here are my tips…
- make sure you are using the right foil for the job! For the hot foil stamps & the foil press, you need thermal foil and you want to make sure it is for papercrafting. (Check out the Essential Foil Guide for more info.)
- give yourself time to play & work out the kinks. Using the Gemini Foil Press is pretty easy but I do notice that for each project, I need to practice on a scrap piece or two to find my rhythm.
- look at your dies for other images to foil! I love the delicate foiled designs that can be achieved using cutting dies like the Essentials by Ellen Mod Floral or Wild Garden.
