Are you looking for a way to make colorful cards without having to actually color? Carly is here sharing a fun & easy way that she adds color without picking up a single Copic marker or colored pencil!
So you guys might be asking me, “Carly, why would we not want to color?!” And you’re so right, coloring is awesome! But what if you can’t find your markers? What if you have a broken finger? Or what if you just need some quick but colorful cards like these?
I have an easy solution! Colorful die cut sentiments paired with black & white images!
I love all the sweet critters in the Summer of Stamping Soak It Up set and all of the adorable things they can peek out of! There’s the unicorn floatie in the set, the canoe from Camp Wanna Stamp or other Avery Elle sets like the Peek-A-Boo Car, the Peek-A-Boo Fair, or Peek-A-Boo Coaster. But since I adore word dies so much, I thought they would look super cute peeking from behind the words.
And I thought the words should be rainbow so I grabbed some Distress Oxides inks and blended a quick rainbow.
Then I die cut all my words at once.
To finish my rainbow die cut words, I layered two plain white cardstock die cuts under the rainbow ones. I used the layered words to help plan where to stamp the critters and sentiment.
Since the critters are meant to “peek”, I didn’t even have to worry about masking any part of the image.
For the Hooray card, I did assemble it slightly differently because the hooray letters are separate when die cut. To help me perfect the spacing, I die cut “hooray” from a panel, then stamped the pup & sentiment and then adhered to a card base. Finally I adhered the rainbow letters in the negative spaces.
