I have to admit that I have been decking the halls at my house since early November, LOL! And so it seemed like “Deck The Halls” was the perfect holiday song to inspire my tag for this year’s 12 Tags of Christmas…
I wanted my little tree to feel warm & cozy so I went with felt and I made my own wrapping paper with the Fa La La stamp to cover the lid of a small box. Here are a few of my crafty tips from this project…
I think “dry adhesives” like tape are so much easier to use with felt then “wet adhesives” like liquid glue. So for this I layered two of the rectangle tags from the Essentials by Ellen Farmhouse Tags set together and before die cutting the “back” tag, I applied double-sided adhesive to the cardstock. The adhesive not only holds the tags together but makes it super easy to inlay the felt tree.
And have you tried coloring pom-poms? I love to use my tweezers to hold the pom-pom while I give it a quick color with a Copic marker.
To create the wrapping paper, I used a brayer to add pink ink to lightweight printer paper. Then I stamped the Fa La La stamp coral red ink. The lightweight paper was super easy to fold and adhere around the box lid.
Would you believe I have bunches of these boxes left over from my wedding 14 years ago? Haha! This year I’m filling them with treats and sending them out into the world!
I might have gone overboard with the giant red pom-pom but it’s happy!
