Welcome to Day Three of Avery Elle Week on the Ellen Hutson blog! We have a ton of fun and inspiration planned for you! Each day a Designer will be featuring Avery Elle products sprinkled with Essentials by Ellen goodies. Today we welcome Emily Mydlowski.
Hi Friends! Can you believe that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner?! I love this paper crafting season full or hearts, pinks, reds, sweet sentiments and yummy treats and trinkets. When I first saw the HUGE Cherry image in the Avery Elle Cherry on Top Stamp & Coordinating Elle-Ments Die, I knew it would be the perfect tag/gift topper for some yummy Valentine/Galentine treats…I mean everything is better with a cherry on top, right?! And the sentiments in this set are way too cute not to include on a card front so I have both a tag and card for you today.
I don’t know about you but BIG, LARGE, HUGE focal images can be intimidating to color with SO much white space to fill. This is when I reach for my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers as a quick way to fill the white space with a nice amount of shading and dimension.
For both my tag and card, I stamped the images with VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink to Bristol Smooth Paper and then heat embossed the images with clear embossing powder. The raised heat embossed images creates a nice little wall to help keep your watercolor from spreading outside the lines and Bristol Smooth Paper blends the color like butter without all the weight and grooves in watercolor paper.
I applied a couple brush strokes of color directly to the image and used a Water brush to blend the colors across the image. For the Cherries, I used 022-Carmine Red, 029-Geranium Red and 024-Wine Red and for the Stems 040-Green & 048-Emerald Green. Then I die-cut the images using the Coordinating Cherry on Top Elle-Ments Die.
Cherry Treat Tag Assembly
I created the red banner tag using the EBE Farmhouse Tag Set, Stamped the I Love You sentiment with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then I added a piece of pink baker’s twine and attached the tag to the Cherry Stem. For a little extra Valentine Sparkle, I used the Cherry On Top Elle-Ments die to cut a pink glitter cardstock outline. Then I secured all the cherry pieces to the treat bag package I had these treat bags in my stash that I purchased from with a small wooden clothespin (treat bag & wooden clothespin found in stash-purchased from a general merchandise store)
Cherry On Top Card Assembly
I arranged all the dies together (as they originally came assembled) to cut a Pink Glitter Cardstock inlay. Then I glued the pink glitter inlay to a white outline die cut. I stamped the white heat embossed sentiment to the Cherry and pieced the image into the inlay with liquid adhesive. Then I adhered the BIG Cherry “On Top” of a Pink EBE Swirls Background panel.
So there we are friends, two Very Cherry, BIG & Sweet Valentine’s Day Projects using the Cherry on Top Stamp and Elle-ments. Thanks for stopping by and Big Paper Hugs!
