Monster Hugs Card with Avery Elle & Essentials by Ellen

Welcome to the Final Day of Avery Elle Week on the Ellen Hutson blog! Do you have a friend who could use a paper hug right now? For Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day or any day of the week, we all have someone who could use a little more love. Check out Carly’s “monster hugs” card and it’s surprise inside!

I just adore monster stamps and this Monster Love set from Avery Elle is one of the best! It’s perfect to send some “monster hugs” for Valentine’s!

I started by ink blending Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral and Kitsch Flamingo and then die cutting the letters to spell “monster hugs” with the Essentials by Ellen Tall n Skinny alphabet dies. I placed the Abandoned Coral at the top for “monters” and on the bottom for “hugs”.

I stamped one of the cute monsters in black & embossed in clear on a Smooth Bristol panel. I watercolored him with by swiping my Distress Oxide inks on my nonstick craft sheet.

I stamped the other two monsters on the inside of a Smooth Bristol card, having them off the edge like they are peeking in. I used Distress Oxides again to watercolor them too.

I thought it might be easier to see how I created the pop-up hearts on the inside so I created this short tip video…

I hope you are inspired to create today! Thanks so much for stopping by and before you go…there’s a super fun Avery Elle sale happening in the EH shop! Go treat yourself 😉
