Hi friends! Angela here today, and I’m excited to share a project I made using the new Essentials by Ellen Painted Florals stamp and die set. The set was just released this week, and for those of you who love solid stamps like me, this is a must-have!

In today’s video, I’m sharing a few tips for making stamping multiple images a breeze, and it all has to do with using a jig. This is a simple positioning tool made out of cardstock, and you might not know this, but you’re probably already making one when you run cardstock through your die cutting machine! By die cutting and then stamping with the jig, you can:

  • Achieve better consistency in your stamped images, with the same thin white border around each
  • Similar to the above point, ensure any layered stamped elements are in the same place across all your images
  • Create multiple images faster (great for batch card production!)
  • Spare yourself the task of re-aligning dies around stamped images every time you want to cut those images out.

Tips for using a jig and layered stamping:

  • If you’re making more than one of each image, die cut first, and then stamp to save time and achieve more consistent results.
  • Don’t throw away the white cardstock you die cut from – use it as the jig for positioning your solid stamps.
  • Pop a sticky mat or sticky sheet in your MISTI to help hold the jig and your die cut pieces in place. No sticky mat? No problem – simply stick some low-tack tape, sticky side up, to the back of your jig over the die cut areas, then use your MISTI magnets to hold the jig in place.
  • A craft knife can be useful to help lift your stamped images out of the jig.
  • If stamping an image with multiple layers, do the first layer first for all images before moving on to the second layer. This gives the ink time to dry and will help you achieve a more crisp result when you move on to the next color.
