Hello, it’s me, Julie! Today’s project features a number of different tips for heat embossing as well as stamping and die cutting an entire “panel” of sentiments with one impression and one pass of your die cutting machine! Were you aware that the “Nice of You” die set coordinates with 3 different Essentials by Ellen sentiment stamp sets? Yup! TIPS:
- Prep your paper surface prior to heat embossing by using an anti-static powder; it really does help reduce static electricity and moisture from the paper surface, and provides a cleaner, more professionally embossed finish. Use a soft brush to brush away any excess from the paper, before stamping. Excessive anti-static powder can cling to your stamp and transfer to/contaminate your embossing ink pad; over time this will cause your embossing ink to be less sticky and/or require cleaning and reining more frequently.
- For more crisply embossed sentiments, use detail/fine grind embossing powders.
- When heat embossing over the top of water-based dye inks, warm the paper surface with your heat tool to help evaporate any moisture, then apply anti-static powder. The WOW! Dual Temp Embossing Tool has two settings; setting “1” is good for warming and setting “2” is a higher heat, best suited for melting embossing powder, etc.
- When creating ombré inked effects directly on your stamp, it helps to blend the edge where the ink colors meet using a sponge blending tool, such as a Smoothie.
