Julie is taking one of her favorite techniques down a slightly different path today, featuring the new Classic Block Number and Alphabet Die Sets!
Hello, it’s me, Julie! Eclipse cards are among my all-time favorite techniques—I usually stamp color images onto white card stock, but recently I played around with using just two beautiful colors of card stock to create a primarily monochromatic design, with a two-tone effect that you don’t immediately see.
TIPS:
- Use high contrasting colors of card stock for best effect.
- If you’re using individual dies, but need them to stay together in a particular way, try using Purple Tape to connect them.
- Be sure to save the negative pieces; I like to keep all the die cut pieces in a little dish on my work table so I don’t lose anything.
- Tape runner works well for large pieces, but for smaller bits, a glue pen is very helpful! And, tweezers.
- Stack your die cuts at least 5-6 layers thick so the secondary color really can be seen when the card is slightly tilted.
- The negative piece that you die cut your letters and numbers from can be saved for a future project—as a decorative layer, or a shaker window, etc.
- In honor of National Craft Month, I’m also sharing an organization/storage tip! I love NUVO Drops and wanted an easy way to access/store them. My solution was to mount clear acrylic nail polish racks to the side of my Kallax shelf unit. The racks came with mounting screws, but I didn’t want to permanently mount them, in case I later changed my mind, so I used 3M™️ Removable Command Strips:
