Masking With Glossy Accents & Essentials by Ellen

Do you have a favorite stamping technique? Have you tried masking? Carly is here today to share one of her favorites – masking with Glossy Accents! And in honor of Seattle’s Pride Parade coming up on the 26th, she’s made it rainbow! (Learn more about Seattle Pride here.)

I love using masking techniques with my stamps and using Glossy Accents to mask is one of my all-time favorites! It’s a great cardmaking technique because not only does the Glossy Accents work as a fabulous mask but it also gives stamped images a dimensional, glossy finish!

Here’s a quick look at how I created this card with Essentials by Ellen stamps, Glossy Accents masking and ink blending..

Stamp images & sentiment in waterproof ink.

Apply Glossy Accents to areas you want to mask. Here I used it on the flower petals and “fun”. And quick tip, a craft pick is a great way to remove any wet Glossy Accents that goes outside the lines or gently push it into any tight spaces. Set aside to dry completely.

Add color with blending brush! I used three colors of Catherine Pooler ink – Coral Cabana, Catching Rays & Cummerbund – and overlapped them to create a little orange & green too. I love the resulting rainbow!

Use a barely damp cloth to any excess ink off the glossy areas.

Then I finished the card with a little water splatter and faux black splatter with a pen.
