Does the idea of stitching on your cards intimidate you? We promise it isn’t as hard as it might seem! Carly is here to share a clean & simple stitched card design along with her tips for creating stitched cards!
I’ve said it before and I will tell you again, I can’t sew. My wonderful, patient, accomplished seamstress mother has tried more times than we both can count to teach me some basic sewing skills and yet I still can’t even thread a sewing machine.
However I have decided that with a few fab tools & tricks, I can create stitched cards like this…
Here are my tips for some simple & easy stitched cards…
- Start with die that creates the holes for you like the Essentials by Ellen A2 Piercing Plate. Having the holes pre-pierced really makes creating a design a million times easier! And actually I love using the EBE A2 Piercing Plate just for texture too.
- Use heavy cardstock that can stand up to all the extra handling while you stitch like Solar White 110lb.
- Choose a simple design like the overlapping diagonal lines I used here.
- Get comfy while you stitch! I grabbed all my supplies and caught up on some reality tv while I stitched this so panel.
- Add a frame on top to hide any “rough edges”. And my super smart friend Heather suggested making the frame a few layers thick for stability and depth so I layered 3 frames (cut with the Essentials by Ellen Essential Rectangles) and it was perfect!
