Pretty Little Packages Featuring The Stamp Market

Hi everyone!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I’m glad you’re here!  For the February edition of the Ellen Hutson Newsletter, we’re focusing on Pretty Little Packages featuring packaging dies from The Stamp Market.

I love to present simple presents in a special way.  Creating your own gift packaging is a fun way to dress up a small gift and really make it feel extra special for the recipient.

Gift packaging dies are a great edition to any papercrafter’s stash.  I love to create my own bags, boxes and envelopes to present small gifts.  They can be dressed up with stamps and dies that you already own which allows you to customize them for any occasion.

Today, I’m creating some fun boxes using the Scallop Box Die from The Stamp Market.  I love the size of this box because it’s large enough to accommodate gifts that are a little bit larger than many other gift box dies on the market.  It’s perfect for a cupcake, cookies, small treats, a bath bomb, and more.

As you’re creating your gift box, here’s a few key things to keep in mind.

  1. Make it stick. Be sure to use a strong adhesive to adhere your gift box together.  I like to use Be Creative Tape.  You’ll want something stronger than your standard tape runner so the box can withstand the weight of your gift or treat.
  2. Play with pattern.  You can add some simple pattern to your gift box using background stamps.  Try tone on tone stamping or even heat embossing to add some shine.  If the background stamp isn’t large enough to cover the entire die cut, pick a background stamp that will be forgiving if you’re trying to line up a second stamping on the box.
  3. Mix and match.  Use stamps and dies you have in your collection to customize the box for the recipient and occasion.  It’s fun to dress up these boxes.  Today, I’ve created a Thank You box and a box perfect for celebrations, just by switching up the stamps and dies.
  4. Keep the corners clean.  The best way to achieve a great looking gift box is to make sure your edges line up.   Pay close attention as you assemble your box to make sure you get the best results and keep the corners clean and crisp,

Be sure to check out today’s video.  I’ll be walking you through the creation of these pretty little packages….and I’ll give you some tips and tricks along the way.

I hope you’ll try dressing up your next little gift in a fun handmade box or bag.  They’re some of my favorite projects to create and to give.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you’ve enjoyed these projects.  Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day! XOXO
