How To Make DIY Planner Stencils

Learn how to make DIY planner stencils that are perfect for creating weekly layouts!

Hello everyone! Adelina here sharing a process video on creating a weekly layout in your Canvo using a couple of stamp sets from the July Essentials by Ellen release. Last month I showed you a quick and easy way to create a monthly layout using stamps. For today’s layout I’m showing you how to create a stencil you can use in a variety of ways to create a weekly layout.

I pulled out my Parcel Box die by Julie Ebersole and cut the rectangle from that set on a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of clear plastic to create my stencil. The shape is perfect for creating a weekly vertical layout!

I like how quickly I can create a layout using the DIY stencil with a blender brush. The options are endless if you dig into your stash for other shapes that might work for a weekly or monthly layout.

TIPS:

  • Try different shaped dies to create your stencil! It doesn’t have to be a square or a rectangle. Find some smaller dies that would work for a monthly layout.
  • I used Catherine Pooler Ink with my stencil, but try using some Distress Oxides & splash some water on your layout for a different look.
  • I colored my images with Zig Clean markers. Use a heat tool between layers of watercolor to add shadows or darker colors.
  • Instead of using a blender brush for your stencil, try simply outlining the shape with a marker or felt pen.
