2 For 1: A Planner Layout & A Card

Hello friends! Adelina here with a a couple of projects using the Woodsy Lady stamp set by Brandi Kincaid.

Today I decided to share an easy two for one project. I was doing my weekly layout in my Canvo Journal and figured since I had the stamp set out, I’d make a card using the same color combo!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am using three journals for planning in 2019. I’m using my Canvo Journal by Catherine Pooler to document my weeks for memory keeping purposes. I’m a scrapbooker and I like to keep notes about the day to day stuff that happens in my life to add to my scrapbooks.

The first thing I did is to pencil out my Canvo Journal layout. The dot grid pattern in this journal makes it really easy to divide up the page. Every layout I do in this journal is different because I’m not keeping a lot of information in it. I like to create my layouts on Monday mornings and the level of creativity is different depending on how much time I have that morning. For this particular layout I decided on three columns.

I did seven rectangles that were all the same size and then left one longer rectangle. I went over the pencil lines with a 3mm Copic Multiliner pen. I learned the hard way not to start off with ink!

Once the layout was done in ink, I used some washi tape to tape off the edges of the longer rectangle. Then I put a post-it note over the bottom area of the large rectangle so I wouldn’t risk getting any ink anywhere else. I decided I wanted to break up the size of that large rectangle a little. I inked up the Woodsy Lady with some Catherine Pooler ink in Midnight. I really like the saturation of the Catherine Pooler inks, even the minis are saturated! I knew it would leave a great impression on the first try.

After I had the Woodsy Lady stamped, I inked up a sentiment and stamped it below her in the large rectangle in Flirty Fuchsia. Then I took out my set of 36 Prismacolor pencils and colored the image. I like the pop of color and visual interest created by having the Woodsy Lady on this layout. Next I took the compass from the Woodsy Lady set and stamped it in each of the rectangles for the days of the week. I used the Catherine Pooler mini ink in Aquatini for those images.

I filled in the details of the week daily. When I arrived at Sunday, that blank space around the sentiment was bugging me. So I took some Eclipse Tape, covered the sentiment and used some washi tape to tape off the area around it. Then I took some Catherine Pooler ink in Flirty Fuchsia and stamped some water bottles. This turned into a very PNW layout! *laugh*

Planner layout and matching card with Essentials by Ellen Woodsy Lady

I keep a stash of cards in my studio to pick from for letters to friends and family. So I decided to do a quick and simple card while I had my supplies out. I used the Simple Blend – Square stencil by Brutus Monroe to create my background. Using the largest brush in the Trinity Stamps Blendability Brush Set, I blended the Catherine Pooler Aquatini ink. It is so easy to create a softly blended background with the Blendability Brushes!

Next I stamped the Woodsy Lady on a scrap piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock and colored her using the same pencils I used in my Canvo Journal. I stamped out the marshmallows and colored them as well. I die cut both of the images using the matching dies and decided I didn’t want the full Woodsy Lady image on the card front. I kept her mostly confined in to the background I created. Using the Catherine Pooler ink in Flirty Fuchsia, I stamped a sentiment to align with the right edge of the background. A super easy, quick card!

The Leading Ladies work great in the Canvo Journal for visual interest with your layouts. I hope you’ll try them out if you have the Canvo Journal and while you’re at it … make yourself a quick card! Happy crafting, friends.

P.S. today and tomorrow, pick up some awesome Catherine Pooler stamps, dies or your own Canvo journal!

Love this! I have never hopped on the “bullet/Canvo” journal bandwagon, but I like your idea for using one to document your days for scrapbooking purposes. Great job coloring the Woodsy Lady, and I love the ink colors you chose. Tfs! 🙂 ~ Andrea

I’ve planned for years and love to incorporate stamps into my planner now and again to go with my weekly theme and stickers. I haven’t yet tackled a bullet journal style. I love what you did here with your design and of course the EBE leading ladies and CP inks. Love it all!
