Hi there! Emily Midgett back with you this month for my latest installment in the Exploring with Emily series. For this month’s video, I’m using some masking and ink blending to help me “color” a a white Mondo Amaryllis flower by emphasizing the negative space around the flower.

I tend to overwork my white images, adding too many shadows, and then if/when I add color around it, the flower ends up looking dingy and gray. The contrast between the bright blue halo and the bright white card stock helps me to keep my shadows in check! I hope you enjoy the video showing the technique!
