Looking for holiday inspiration for that everyday stamp set? Julie is “borrowing” stamps from one set, to dress up a holiday card featuring the dachshund from the Clever Sausage set!
For this holiday card, I’m borrowing a candy cane from Bear Ware 2 and using a white gel pen to create a holiday pattern on this little dachshund’s sweater!
TIPS:
- When mixing stamp sets, look for similar art styles and scale to create for a cohesive end result.
- Watercoloring images with small details can be a challenge—use a small brush, and dilute your colors on a non-porous surface like the Waffleflower Media Mat, for better control; you can always intensify and layer color on top if needed.
- Splitting a panel as shown in the video enables you to create a background scene from one layer of card stock and avoid adding too much bulk to a design.
- Gel pens tend to perform best when they’re used regularly. If your pen hasn’t been used in quite a while, you may want to run the tip across an emery board to dislodge the rollerball and get the ink flowing again.
- Mounted your pieces but changed your mind? Shimmy a thin spatula (or something similar) between the layers to help loosen the adhesive without destroying the pieces.

How very special…..two gals laughing in the closet. At least you said it was your closet, but I saw colors in there and have never seen you wear anything but black and white! Ha. Anyway, this card is the bomb and what a joy to see your big sister granddaughter. You made my day, Stickles and all.
