Inner Mermaid – Creating a Sparkly Friendship Card

Today Design Ambassador Jessica Frost-Ballas shares a fun way to create a friendship or Galentine’s Day card for that magical friend in your life!

Hello! Jessica Frost-Ballas here and today I’m sharing a super sparkly card using the fun Inner Mermaid set! You can watch the video above or over on the Ellen Hutson YouTube channel here!

To start I masked off a circle on the lower half of my panel and then blended my background using distress oxide inks in spun sugar, worn lipstick, abandoned coral, and festive berries. I removed the mask and blended squeezed lemonade and a little abandoned coral to create my sun. I also blended my waves using blueprint sketch and chipped sapphire distress oxide ink. Once it was dry I die-cut the waves with the Essentials by Ellen Waves die.

Next I stamped the mermaid tails from Inner Mermaid with copic-friendly black ink using my MISTI and left the stamp on the lid of my MISTI. I colored the tails with blue green copic markers and then placed them back in my MISTI. I restamped the tails with versamark and heat-embossed them with gold glitter embossing powder for a super sparkly finish.

I adhered the tails and wave to my blended background and then added sentiments from Block Words and Pure Magic. Finally I applied a little crystal glaze to the tails and sprinkled them with chunky and prisma Lawn Fawn glitter and teal seahorse glitter from Wow for a little extra sparkle! I wish I could show you this card in real life…it’s just stunning when it catches the light!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

-Jess
