Card For A Cat Lover with Essentials by Ellen

Are you wanting to make a card for your favorite cat lover but you need a little creative inspiration? We can help! Carly Tee is here today with a fun card perfect for the cat lover in your life!

Did you know that yesterday was Respect Your Cat Day? It’s a day to celebrate your kitty and give them extra loves but all the cat lovers I know do that pretty much every day, haha! This clean & simple card is super easy to put together, you can customize it with any cat pun sentiment and the handmade “ball of yarn” adds a fun textural element.

To start I stamped, colored & die cut one of the cats from the Essentials by Ellen Cat Lady set. I’m not great with my cat-colored Copic markers so I made him a minty green with BG11 and BG32.

I used the MFT Captions Alphabet dies to create a punny custom sentiment. I almost used “you are a catch” but decided on “you are my favorite purrrson” instead. If you are feeling sassy, you could add “…to annoy” on the inside. I highly recommend having some alpha dies on hand for custom sentiments like this (and make sure you read all the way to the bottom for a sale). Stick It adhered to the black cardstock before die cutting the letters makes it really easy to add to the card.

To create the “yarn ball”, I wrapped embroidery floss around three circle die cuts adhered together.

I wove the same color floss through the sentiment before adhering it to the card front and around the cat.

Thanks for stopping by! Hug your cats 🙂 and have a great day!

P.S. You can pick up that alpha die set and other fun MFT goodies for 25% off in the EH shop today through March 31st.
