Shaped Thank You Card Set

Join Emily Leiphart as she uses the Essential Hexagon Dies to create a shaped card set. These make a fantastic gift, perfect for anyone on your list!

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Emily here and I’m sharing a fun card set I made as a gift for one of my son’s teachers. Yup, it’s that time of year and I like to give sets of handmade cards since everyone needs a stash of cute cards like this!

I used the largest of the Essential Hexagon Dies as the card base. The card fronts were die cut from white linen cardstock and the card backs were cut from Neenah heavyweight cardstock.

I used Bazzill heavyweight cardstock in Candy Hearts, Circus Peanuts, Banana Split and Sour Lemon to cut the second largest of the Essential Hexagon Dies to create frames for each of the cards. Then I used those same colors to cut the Mod Floral Die.

To add some detail and shimmer to the centers of the flowers, I used the large star from the You Are Awesome Stamp Set, stamping it with watermark ink on all the large and medium flowers. Then I heat embossed them with sparkle embossing powder.

I also used the Mod Floral Die to dry emboss the white linen card fronts before attaching the colored floral die cuts. I varied the combination of frames, flowers and leaves so that all four colours were represented on each card. I used glue dots to attach the die cuts and liquid glue to attach the frames.

Before attaching the card fronts to their backs, I stamped the sentiments and bees from the Love Notes Stamp Set using Versafine Onyx Black ink and die cut the bees using the coordinating Love Notes Dies. I scored the back panel at the 4-bar measurement and used Scor-Tape to secure the two halves together.

To finish the cards, I added two sizes of pearl embellishments on each card and popped up the little bees with foam tape. With this sentiment, these cards could be used as thank you cards or a just because card to cheer up a friend or family member.

These hexagon-shaped cards fit perfectly into A2 envelopes so they can be mailed without extra postage! As an added bonus, it will also be fun for the sender to mix and match each card to a coordinating envelope for mailing.

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration post. As always, you can find all the supplies I used below. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!
