Make Two Birthday Cards at the Same Time!

Join Lisa as she shares how to build your birthday card stash by making two fun interactive cards at the same time!

If you know me, you’ll know that once I get my supplies out I just can’t seem to stop! In today’s post I’m sharing two super fun interactive cards, one for my sweet niece — she’s 11 now, how did that happen?! — and one for a friend.

It all started with a quick watercolor background. I colored a panel with new gamboge up top and quinacridone rose down below, then impatiently waited for it to dry. 🙂 You can make this background with ink blending if ya prefer.

Then as I grabbed the Essential Rectangles to make a window for a shaker card I thought HEY! I can make TWO cards at the same time! WOO!

Here are the completed cards! So fun amiright? Now let me walk you through ’em!

#1 – Shake It!

I made this one for my sweet niece who turned 11 — how did that happen!? We have kind of a running joke going where I put confetti in all her cards haha! She opens them really carefully. So this time I thought I’d surprise her with a shaker instead. 🙂

This card came together really fast and I just love how it turned out!

I especially love how the uncolored candies from Hit That go with the style of the “celebrate” and the little sprinkle stamps from HB2U! And they all go together with the confetti perfectly.

#2 Tilt n’ Rock!

This card uses the pieces that were cut to form the window from the shaker card. Pro tip: turn the rectangle frame upside-down to for some fun contrast!

I had the idea to give the pinata from Hit That some tilt and rock action, so I busted out the Tilt n’ Rock die. I must confess I kinda want to use it on every card! I used the same design on this card as the one above, but for this one I kept the pinata clean and simple, just adding some glitter.

Here it is in action:

I gave this card to a friend and she was so impressed! And this time I did put a little confetti in the inside, HA!

Supplies:

The happy birthday sentiments on my cards all came from the HB2U set and it’s FREE with your $100+ purchase, now through the 17th! (While supplies last.) It will be automatically added to your order — no coupon code needed.

Here are the rest of the supplies:

Happy 15th birthday, Ellen Hutson! YAY! Thanks for bringing us all such joy all these years! — xoxo, Lisa
