Did you know that it’s really easy to add some quick dimension to your stamped images? Today Therese shares how!
Hi it’s Therese and as you probably already know May is National Strawberry Month… of course you did! So, today we are creating a dimensional background but we are also going to add some easy dimension to our stamped images. Don’t forget to scroll down to check out my BONUS card….
NOTE: This is pretty much the Rock and Roll technique which adds the first and second layer of ink onto the stamp together before stamping. I personally prefer to clean my stamp between applications as I do not want to take the chance to contaminate my ink pads.
TECHNIQUE #1 – Using a BLOCK
I am using the Strawberry Fields Stamp and co-ordinating die set. These images are nearly ‘solid’ which is perfect for this technique. Basically we are going to layer inks to add dimension, it’s so easy to do!

First I stamped the strawberry images using Coral Cabana. I cleaned my stamp and used a darker ink, Samba to add color around the edges of the stamp.
PRO TIP: Mini Ink Pads are great for this technique.

To remove the harsh edges of the ink I used a Mini Blending Brush. Then I could line up the stamp and ‘re-stamp’ the darker edges over top. You will need to use a clear block to be able to see through to line up the stamp.

TECHNIQUE #2 – Using a Stamp Positioner
If you are struggling to line up the images you can use a stamp positioning tool such as the MISTI. This is a much easier way to layer stamps, but also a great way to create multiples quickly.

The technique is exactly the same. Stamp the base layer of your image first using a lighter colour, I used Lime Rickey. Leave the stamp in place on the MISTI lid and use the edges of the ink pad to add the darker ink to portions of the stamp.

Again, I used the Mini Blending Brush to soften the ink edges before re-stamping.

So I made a bunch of them! And I used the Strawberry Fields Die Set to cut them out.

I adhered them together and added foam tape to create a Strawberry Field dimensional background.

Which I popped up on a smooshed background.

Then finally I added a sentiment from the Soak It Up Set.

And time now for my BONUS card!
I was looking at the Abstract Nature Stamp Set and all I could see was a ‘strawberry body’…

I used exactly the same technique to add dimension to these little cuties and a LOT of stamp sets to add the ‘body’ pieces.

I hope that you have been inspired to add some stamped dimension, or maybe even create a dimensional background. And if you do, I’d love you to share them with me @lostinpaper, as well as @ellenhutsonllc. We can’t wait to see what you make!
