Mixing & Matching Stamp Sets

Hi crafty friends! It’s Jeannie here and today, I’m sharing three different cards using three different stamp sets that I mixed and matched to create mini scenes.

I’m using Vera Kuprik’s illustrated sets from Essentials by Ellen line: Party Time, Heart Eyes, and the newest set, Beach Party. These were all created to be used together, so the images are interchangeable, making it really easy to stretch your imagination.

Whenever I want to mix and match stamp sets, I will look the sets I want to use for consistency. You want similar sizing and illustration style — this way your images will look cohesive together. Of course, this is not a hard and fast rule, but it’s my preference when I pull from different sets.

Since these sets were designed to go together, it made mixing and matching really easy by picking images that went together for a mini scene. Each of my card has a focal element that ties the images together. One features ice cream, another drinks, and lastly, music! I also elements that are features in each card: pattern paper card panel, large sentiment die cut, and a stamped sentiment.

TIPS FOR MIXING & MATCHING

  • Take a good look at your stamp sets to see how they can work together.
  • Keep your images consistent. If you die cut the images, die cut all of them. If you choose to fussy cut, fussy cut all the images.
  • Use stamp sets that are consistent in the same size and the same type of illustrated style so they will look cohesive together.
