Color Blocked Card Set

Hey everyone! Guess what day it is! It’s Ellen Hutson SaturYAY and I’m celebrating the weekend by getting my craft on! I’m here with a beautiful stationery set that makes a fabulous gift! Anyone need a quick back-to-school teacher gift?

Today I’ll be featuring stamps from Avery Elle and dies from Honey Bee. The Avery Elle Mod stamp set is perfect for this color blocked card set. And I love the way that the playful HoneyBee sentiments add softness and whimsy to the cards, while keeping a clean and simple design.

In order to make stamping these cards quick and easy, I used my MISTI tool. This assured that I had precise alignment each time I stamped. I set up my MISTI with all three stamps in position. I added each new element by rotating my card base and stamping in a different color. I’ll show you exactly how I did this in the video tutorial.

To dress up the simple design of these cards, I used the DCWV Washi Metals stack. In order to give the washi some weight, I mounted it to some Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80 pound cardstock. And because I was mass producing, I added Stick It Adhesive to the back, allowing me to quickly adhere the die cut sentiments to the vellum shadows without fussing with liquid adhesive.

This DIY’d metallic card stock also made for great accents. I cut it in to thin strips and added it along the stamped design.

I mixed up the sentiments so the recipient would have a good mix of cards for various occasions. HoneyBee offers so many great sentiment dies. I love that a lot of them have coordinating shadow dies included.

To present this set of cards, I’ve packaged them in a clear A2 card box. I included some Essentials By Ellen vellum envelopes. I created a quick coordinating tag and tied it up with some twine. Simply perfect!

This makes a beautiful gift for anyone. The colors can easily be changed to suit the recipients taste.

I’ll show you how these cards came together in today’s video tutorial. Be sure you check it out.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these projects and I hope it inspires you to get your craft on this fine Satur-YAY! If you’re creating something today, we’d love to see your work. Be sure to share it on social using #EllenHutsonSaturYAY.

Thanks for stopping by and spending time with me today. Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!
