1 Stamp & 3 Mediums with the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Gerbera Daisy

Justine Hovey is using 3 of her favorite mediums – Copic markers, Altenew watercolor brush markers & Prismacolor pencils – to color the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Gerbera Daisy!

Today I am working with the new Mondo Gerbera Daisy stamp by Ellen Hutson that was recently released and I coloured it using three different mediums to create three different cards. Even though I knew this was a daisy, for some reason my brain coloured a sunflower, but hey that’s the versatility of this stamp. Or just a fun, creative mistake. I used Copic markers, Altenew Waterbrush Markers and Prismacolor Pencils to colour the three images.

Do you enjoy colouring? I personally go through phases of it. Days where I like it and days where I don’t. I find it relaxing but I need to be relaxed to want to colour. No time constraints. In total, the three images took me about an hour to colour. The watercolour was the quickest and the coloured pencils took the longest.

I used Canson watercolour paper and versafine black onyx ink to stamp this image for me card and ensure it could handle the water. The Altenew brushes are perfect for beginners because they are easy to control the flow. I didn’t have any brown so I also used the Altenew Watercolours to paint the middle.

My second card was coloured with Copic Markers: Y15, YR24, YR27, E17, E18, E37, E49, YG91, YG95, YG97. I really tried to continue practicing my flicking technique. It’s a work in progress but practice makes perfect!

The last one, which is my favourite, is coloured with Prismacolor Pencils. I used: Spanish Orange, Goldenrod, Canary Yellow, Pumpkin Orange, Sienna Brown, Chocolate, Dark Brown, Green Ochre, Olive Green, Moss Green. I used the same shading method as I did with markers but built up the colour slowly with many layers to get it to be a vibrant yellow.

Which one do you like best? Which method of colouring do you prefer?
