Hello my coloring friends!! I’m Sandy Allnock and I’m doing some empathy-coloring today; I was reading about just HOW hot it’s been in Paris lately (115F?!?!? GAH!) and I am hoping that painting a Paris scene will help cool them down, somehow. When I traveled there it was winter, so it’s hard to imagine such a beautiful place being SO hot!

The technique is pretty simple – a loose sky, washy trees, and a few lines for reflections. Try it, it’s not too hard!

Even the Eiffel Tower isn’t too hard – just make a curvy triangle that gets smaller toward the top, give it a few cross bars toward the bottom section, and a rounded arch. Everyone will make it into the Eiffel Tower in their minds, because it’s such an iconic structure!

A little on supplies….

Be Creative tape has excellent stickiness and strength for watercolor paper. The texture can be challenging for some adhesives to stick to.
Scotch foam tape also sticks well – use it a little more generously on watercolor paper if you can, especially if you have some warping you want to flatten out.
Versafine Onyx Black is an excellent ink for watercolor. It stamps nice and black and is waterproof!

The brushes I recommend for crafters for cardmaking are the Silver Brush company’s Black Velvet line; if you only want to get one, get a round #8. If you want to do big washy backgrounds, too, the #12 round is a great size. As one of my painting instructors once said, “Use the largest brush you can. It’ll make you looser!” And she was right!
