Are you looking for a fun Easter craft to do? We’ve got an idea for you…DIY Felt Easter Baskets!

Easter is right around the corner and I’ve got the cutest little treat basket for you to make using the Essentials by Ellen Bear Cozy Kit. This kit has so many great uses and I’ve seen it used in all sorts of creative ways on Instagram, so I decided to turn my into a little bunny.

I started by cutting the base of the bear cozy in three colors of felt. I have three kids, so I’m creating three little Easter baskets. I added the holes to stitch mine together, but you can skip that step if you’re going to use adhesive instead. Once the base was cut, I then cut the ears off the little bear. They’ll be replaced by bunny ears!

The bear muzzle actually makes the perfect little bunny ears for this project. So I cut two bear muzzles to match each one of my baskets.

I wanted to keep the baskets simple, so I cut the bunny eyes and muzzle from some neutral colored felt. Then cut the nose the same color as the basket. So each project uses just two colors of felt. I adhered the nose, muzzle and eyes with some Peel n Stick sheets.
Once the faces were adhered, I stitched each of the baskets together. The bottom of the basket is made using a die cut circle slightly larger than the open bottom of the stitched cozy. Then I stitched the die cut circle to the open bottom.
Using the new Essential Ovals dies, I die cut a small oval in the same neutral color I used on the muzzle. I adhered it to the bunny ears (the two bear muzzle pieces) with some Peel n Stick and attached the bunny ears to the basket using that same adhesive.
As a finishing touch I threaded some embroidery floss through the muzzle to create some whiskers. Nothing fancy, just threaded it through the needle and pulled it through the felt. Easy peasy!

For some added color inside the basket, I die cut some rectangles from some patterned paper to create paper wraps for some Hershey’s miniatures. A handful of these wrapped chocolates would also be cute in a cellophane bag with a gift tag and some twine!

Fill these cute little Easter baskets with sweet treats and
you’ve got the perfect little gift!
