How To Add Metallic Accents To Your Stamped Cards

I love the simplicity of a modern-vintage look and all it takes are a few metallic accents, pops of black and beautiful stamped images. For my vintage-inspired cards, I used the gorgeous images and sentiments from the Mondo Succulent Pot and Modern Succulent stamp sets.

To create the metallic frame accents, I used one of my cherished paper packs in my stash: the 6×6 Washi Metals Stack. The Washi Metals Stack is such a versatile product and the Metallic Washi Paper is super glossy & shiny. I mean how can you not like an entire 6×6 sheet washi—not a just a little thin roll–any entire 6×6 sheet!? To create the metal inlay frames and hexagon, I carefully applied the washi tape to plain white card stock panel and used the EBE Essentials Rectangle and EBE Hex Frame Dies to die-cut the inlay rectangles and hex frames.

I heat embossed the gorgeous script “Just Because” and “Thinking of you” Sentiments from the Mondo Succulent stamp set with Ranger Super Fine Copper Embossing powder. I love how the copper embossing shines against the ebony black card stock.

I used Zig Clean Color Brush Markers to color the succulents and the faux-batik background on the Modern Succulent card. To create the faux-batik background, I layered lines of blue and gray pigment from the Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and washed over the color with a medium square brush and water.

To complete the modern-vintage design, both cards were adhered to an Essentials by Ellen Ebony Black Cardstock base. For a little extra pop of vintage on the Aloe Thinking of You card, I die-cut a diamond pattern to a white card panel using the EBE Diamond by Julie Ebersole Designer Die.
