MONDO ANTHURIUM AND IT’S A JUNGLE

Week 2 of the Summer of Stamping has featured several lovely–and humorous–sets with a TROPICAL theme and we have Julie here on the blog today sharing how to use the Mondo Anthurium / Mondo Anthurium Die for partial die-cutting and turning Tikis from It’s a Jungle / It’s a Jungle Die Set into a tropical cocktail!

Hey, there! It’s Julie here with two slightly different but fun and EASY card ideas that I hope will inspire you to try! The Mondo Anthurium is perfect for partial die-cutting not only because of its size but also because of the interior cut-outs of the shape itself, which make for an extra element of depth and dimension on what is actually a completely single layer card! And, with a little “out-of-the-box” thinking, you can quickly turn a Tiki into a piña colada!

TIPS:

  • If you plan to stamp and heat-emboss the image you are partial die-cutting along a fold line, do your die-cutting first, then stamp and heat-emboss to avoid cracking the embossing lines.
  • When using heavier paper (I used 140# watercolor paper in my project), if the die leaves an undesirable impression, you can try buffing it out with a bone folder; however, keep in mind that by the time you’re finished stamping and watercoloring, that impression will most likely become camouflaged and unnoticeable.
  • After laying down some watercolor, if the color is too intense, add water and absorb excess with clean, dry paper towel. Repeat as necessary.

Super-cute, Julie! I love the tiki….in fact, we have a vintage collection. You make the watercoloring look so painless…….when I even think about doing it my hands freeze up! Great inspiration and great giggles.
