A Fun Way To Spark Your Cardmaking Mojo

My crafty mojo has up & left me lately. I haven’t even had any “bad” cards to toss out, I’ve just had blank cardstock staring at me with no ideas where to start. It’s been like “cardmaker’s block”, haha!

So the other day I decided to issue myself a challenge to see if it helped spark some ideas. The challenge? Use the first neglected supply I found. What I found was an acrylic block. I’m always using my MISTI to stamp so my acrylic blocks are getting dusty. And the challenge worked!

Here’s what I came up with…

I used an ink smooshing technique to create a simple, colorful background that made a great canvas (in my opinion) for a glossy, sparkly snowflake.

Here’s a quick rundown…

• I applied three colors of water based ink, lightest color first, to the side of my acrylic block with the grid etched on it.
• I misted the block with water and placed it wet side down on my favorite watercolor cardstock.
• I left the block in place and placed two more blocks on top to press the paper down while it dried.

I love how the etched grid let the color spread and left a subtle texture. And I love how the background turned out! So I made another and topped them both with three snowflake die cuts layered, coated with Glossy Accents and a little glitter.
