Fun Shaped Card feat. Bear Cozy Kit

Hello, crafty friends! It’s almost the end of National Embroidery Month so I wanted to share a super adorable out-of-the-box use for the Bear Cozy Kit, previously featured HERE. I combined all of the products included in the kit with other Essentials by Ellen products to turn the coffee cozies into a card.

I thought this dapper bear would make the perfect anniversary card for my husband. I started by die cutting the face using the centre of the cozy die to form the ears. Then I used a circle die to partially die cut from the base of the ears to form the face. I repeated this cut from heavyweight white cardstock, glueing the felt on to the cardstock for stiffness.

I die cut the rest of the pieces for the bear from pink, camel and charcoal felt, adding a layer of white cardstock underneath all of the cream, pink and charcoal pieces so the darker felt wouldn’t show through. To create the body of the bear, I used both the Essential Arches and Essential Arches for Stitching Dies. I added details to the bow tie and arches using camel and grey embroidery thread included in the kit.

I die cut the heart for the bear’s shirt using the Folk Hearts Dies. The sentiment from Warm Fuzzies was heat embossed in white on Paradise cardstock. I used one of the Essentials 4-Bar Rectangles Dies to cut out the sentiment into a little note the bear could hold. The bear’s paw is actually a flower die that is part of a new product coming next week!

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration! Thanks so much for stopping by!
