It’s time to welcome the wonderful Wanda Guess to the blog! We’re thrilled to have Wanda here today sharing how she was inspired to create using the new postage themed stamps and dies from the latest Essentials by Ellen release. Follow along below as she shares how she created two gorgeous cards using items from our YOU’VE GOT MAIL Bundle!
Hello crafty friends! You’ve Got Mail! It’s Wanda Guess here, and I’m super excited to be a guest designer on the Ellen Hutson Blog, and to share some cards with you today. I absolutely love the new Ellen Hutson LLC release and was so happy to get my hands on all those mail themed goodies. Postage stamps and pretty fonts – nothing better than that in my book!

I made two cards with the new collection, and I also used awesome new Sketchmarker Aqua watercolor markers. The watercolor markers gave my projects a soft and artsy look. To use the markers, I colored on my glass mat and then used a water brush to pick up the pretty colors to color my images. Just like painting!

I started by stamping all of the postage stamp images, the snail and the other icons for both cards, using waterproof ink. I die cut out all the images using the matching dies. The sets I used are: First Class, Mail Call, Sending Love, and Everyday Doodles. After I die cut out everything, I used the markers to color in the images. I splattered on some paint for an artistic look. I used the beautiful Postage Dies as my backgrounds on both cards. So fresh!

Both cards are A2 sized and layered with pretty cardstock to match the coloring. The horizontal card features lots of postage stamps and I colored them in a rainbow color way! I added some small icons to add to my rainbow of stamps- the balloon, the leaves and the butterfly. Before assembling my card I stamped the sentiment right onto the top layer and also added some postage cancellation marks. The stamps are affixed to the card with foam squares. To finish off I added a few white enamel dots.

The vertical card features a You’ve Got Mail sentiment in a more graphic and playful font. I chose the card images to fit the card layout (that cute snail, oh my!). I layered cardstock and a bit of vellum on this card and arranged my elements around the sentiment. I added some clear gems to this card for just a touch of sparkle.

These cards are perfect to send to your crafty pals or to anyone who needs a smile in the mail. I can’t wait to make more cards with these wonderful new stamp sets!!
