Hey everyone. It’s Carissa here with you today. Thanks for stopping by. This month’s edition of the Ellen Hutson LLC Newsletter is all about Pantone’s color of the year for 2019, Living Coral.
Coral has always been a favorite of mine. When I heard Pantone had chose it for the color of the year for 2019, I just knew 2019 was going to be my year!
You’ll find many products in the Ellen Hutson LLC shop that will help you add a pop of color in your projects in the coming year. We’ve corralled them all up for you in a Coral Corral so that you can easily find them.
There are many fabulous shades of coral inks, including Catherine Poolers Coral Cabana, Altenew’s Coral Bliss, and the Distress Ink Abadoned Coral. And as well all know, inks can be used for more than just stamping…so a good coral ink pad will be the key to coral in the upcoming year. (I can’t help all alliteration…it just has to be done.)
In addition to fabulous inks, there are embellishments, markers and watercolors in beautiful coral shades.

Today, I’ve created several cards featuring shades of corals. I’ve paired it with classic black and white with touches of gold (a favorite of mine). But keep in mind, coral pairs well with many other colors as well. Some of my other favorite coral pairings include blush, mint, turquoise, teal, navy, green, Kraft and gray. I can’t wait to experiment more with these throughout the year to come and see how various crafty companies and friends use them in new releases.

In today’s video tutorial, I’ll walk you through some coral colored products and through the creation of these cards. Be sure to check it out. We’ll be creating colored vellum, watercolor effects and ombre card stock with various coral colored ink pads.

The clean and simple design of these cards really allows the coral elements to pop and take center stage. I’ve used coral in a very prominent way on these cards, but keep in mind, you can also use it in a more subdued way.
I decided to use some previously released products from the Essentials By Ellen line in these projects. I don’t often get to revisit some of these stamps and dies, and I had a great time pulling out some of my favorites from the past year and using them to create some beautiful cards with pops of coral.

I can’t wait to hear what you all think of Pantone’s color of the year for 2019. Are you a coral lover like me? What’s your favorite coral color combo? I’d love for you to share it in the comments below so we can all get great ideas for using this beautiful color in our projects in the coming year.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s projects. Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!
